Scarf in Progress

I’m still working on that scarf project I mentioned a few weeks ago. I’ll have the reveal soon. I’m curious to see how it’s going to turn out. Hm. Manchester Kitty also thought he would help.

Why is it that I hardly ever (actually never) like anything that I make for my husband? I’ve tried scarves, hats, even pants…and I never like the way they turn out. Oh well. He likes his hat; so I guess that’s all that matters. Right? I didn’t have the mental or physical fortitude to use small needles and do a fade from solid blue to solid gray. Instead, I combined them and used size 11’s and made it in a few hours. I’m not as crazy about the mixed look, or the stripe, but he liked the looks of the hat in this book; so I went with it. If I were standing on the runway with Hedi, Nina & Michael leading the inquisition, I could confidently state that I delivered exactly what the client wanted. (He is pretty easy to please though!)

B’s Blue Hat

:: Today was a great winter day. The highs were in the teens, the snow was falling and we were at the cottage. The morning first consisted of breakfast at The River Stop Cafe then over to a new yarn store. I picked out some yarn for the scarf I mentioned yesterday and B decided his head was a little chilly and that some blue and gray yarn would help with that.

:: Then we decided it was time to hit the lake. We skied for what seemed like an eternity, or maybe just 30 minutes. Hmm…?

:: We finished the day with Pirates of the Caribbean 3. Also I finally got to snap a few photos of some Christmas gifts that B made. I am not the only crafty one in this family. Check out the maple butcher block cutting board he made for his mom and the birdhouse he made for his dad.

I’m so glad that I saw my friend Katie today because she was able to help me decipher a knitting pattern that I would like to try. She is a fantastic knitter, among other things. It’s not a complicated pattern…but I seem to be challenged with just simple things. So off to the yarn store I will go on Wednesday.

I think I’m going to spend part of my day tomorrow on a knitting project. Even though we will have a two-day warm up, my head could use a little color as well as warmth.
