…movies in the middle of the day (& on monday.)  it was rainy yesterday so we decided to go see a matinee.  we decided on UP and it was so delightful.  i even enjoyed seeing it in 3-d.  we really wanted to see away we go, but it’s not in theaters here yet…darn mid-west.  but soon enough i’m sure.

What is it about babies and animals that I find so damn funny?  Well, to tell the truth, I usually hate things like American’s Funniest Home Videos.  I just get annoyed.  But this morning as I sat on the couch sipping my tea watching CNN I found myself making an unfamiliar morning noise: laughing.  Cracking up actually.  They did a story on this blog.  This is why I love the internet.

A very dear friend is coming over tonight and I’m so excited to give her the gift I made her. It’s just another Amy Butler apron, but I know that she will love it.  She is the best person to give gifts to because she is always crazy excited and appreciative. We have a little project for the night and it’s a bit ambitious.  We are making her a Roman Shade for her bathroom.  She picked out the cutest fabric.  I don’t know why she thinks I will be able to help her; I just know I will ruin her fabric.  We’ll see what sort of hail-mary will hit the fence…

My friend Katie had this one her blog; I think the answer suits her perfectly.  I’m not quite so sure about my “analysis”.  But check it out for something fun.  Christy, I know you will.

What is says about you: You are a deep thinking person. You appreciate cities, technology, and other great things people have created. You feel closer to people when you understand their imperfections. Friends count on you for being honest and insightful.

Find the colors of your rainbow at spacefem.com.

I saw this clever idea over at Apartment Therapy. But I would recommend shaving when wearing a tie.

Whether you’re a sports fan or not, this girl is awesome! I love how smooth she is! Her athletic prowess is beyond her years.

With Spring arriving, I feel like trying new things and like I can accomplish anything…like maybe not killing plants. Let’s face it, I can’t keep a plant alive to save my own skin. This is such a source of shame (not guilt!), especially since most in my family have more than just a green thumb, but a whole army of vert like phalanges.

However, with this new little gizmo I bet I could sustain plant life past a week. And it’s so cute to boot! But the hubby and I have put an immediate moratorium on non-essential spending. (We’re going to see how much money we could actually save in a month if we didn’t eat out all the time. I’m sure I’ll have more to say about this as the month progresses.) Until then, these little guys will just have to sit on my computer desktop (it’s probably safer for them anyway!)

Grobal

I’m officially a red-head. I needed change & my hair is the easiest target. Although it may seem subtle in the photos…it doesn’t seem that way. But I’m happy with the new color. Change your hair, change your life.

One of my favorite daily reads is Swissmiss. Yesterday she posted this cute little number that can be found at modern seed.

I knew exactly where I had seen something similar. I walk to work past a dress shop every day and this very spring skirt has me ready for tulips and birds chirping…or ducks quacking. :)

Adult Pink Chicken

I found these little guys at my local bead store today. There is a 50% sale right now, so I managed to escape under $20! I’ve been in a creative funk lately, so I hope these will provide a little glimmer of inspiration.

This is how I will always remember you…well if this was really just for me then I would post a different photo, but in case your son does decide to run for office, I will spare him an early campaign withdraw. I love you…freakshow. Happy Birthday.

Lake Michigan in the dead of winter is quite something. We ventured out through the dunes and came upon an undiscovered land. It was magnificent. Just past the sand line is where the lake actually starts, but this time of year it’s piles and piles of icebergs.

How much do I love NPR?! I love that each night at 8pm (when I’m usually driving home) I get to hear “The Story”. It’s probably my favorite program on NPR. I love hearing about people that I would have normally never even known existed. I love that it reminds me that we are all human and each unique individuals. One of my recent favorites is on Jan 31, 2008. It is about a recovering addict who is a peer counselor in San Francisco. I loved listening to his voice and how comfortable he seemed with himself. Check it out. (Don’t worry they’re not all that intense!)

the story

So Katie from Doodlesprouts has tagged me!

1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

The 7 facts:
1. It is ridiculous how much I love yellow cake batter; I mean ridiculous!
2. I’m originally from Texas.
3. I think because of that I’m obsessed with the weather, any weather event other than hot.
4. I like/want to travel; possibly for a living…so if you know of any way for that to happen let me know!
5. I like to play the guitar and sing in the shower (only in the shower).
6. I like to write, particularly creative non-fiction…or about whatever soap box I’m on that day.
7. I only know two other people who blog! Really. Laurie, Katie…you’re it!

It is because of number 7 that I will link to seven others but not officially “tag” them (I feel kinda weird about it.) Check out these wicked cool folks! I sure wish I knew them; they each inspire in a different way.

Of course my blogroll is full of super-cool folks too.

Clearly I’m obsessed with the weather. I take tons of pics of the snow. I think it has something to do with spending my first 21 years of life in the south where the only two seasons are warm and hot. My parents, knowing this obsession of mine, gave us The Weather Channel Weather Station. It’s so cool! I can now always know what the temperature is and what it is going to be tomorrow. I can check humidity outside & in as well as wind speed and maximum gusts. This super fancy device is also an alarm clock…I’m in love!

:: Today was a great winter day. The highs were in the teens, the snow was falling and we were at the cottage. The morning first consisted of breakfast at The River Stop Cafe then over to a new yarn store. I picked out some yarn for the scarf I mentioned yesterday and B decided his head was a little chilly and that some blue and gray yarn would help with that.

:: Then we decided it was time to hit the lake. We skied for what seemed like an eternity, or maybe just 30 minutes. Hmm…?

:: We finished the day with Pirates of the Caribbean 3. Also I finally got to snap a few photos of some Christmas gifts that B made. I am not the only crafty one in this family. Check out the maple butcher block cutting board he made for his mom and the birdhouse he made for his dad.
