If the overcast skies and winter hues start to get me down this year, I may have to consider investing in dream about one of these fantastic rugs from Amy Butler.  Ok, so I won’t have my own house to decorate this winter, but I’m thinking for the future.  Although I have enjoyed my patterned furniture, I would like to have a solid colored couch with a nice bold rug to compliment it.  But I will have to store away and save up, because these babies aren’t cheap.

The only time I’ve ever won anything was in 1996.  I was working for a CPA that summer and spent most of the day in and office with the radio on.  The original Lilith Fair was in town and the local radio station was giving away tickets to the 5th caller at some designated time.  I heard the Sarah McLachlan song they were looking for and my fingers went to work.  Usually you get a busy signal, but this time the phone rang…and rang, and rang, and rang.  Just as I was getting ready to hang up I heard a voice on the other end say, “Hey, who is this?”  After I state my name,  bells and whistles ring out and the d.j. pronounced me the proud new owner of sold-out tickets to the summer’s hottest show.

Well I’d say that I’ve been on a bit of a dry spell since then.  Nothing of pure luck has come my way.  No lucky numbers, or a sock to never wash and I’m at the bright side all the time.  I mean, I can’t even win at $1 scratch-offs.  (My mom and I tried at every gas station between Texas and Chicago!)

However, 13 years later my luck has changed as the splendid SistersGulassa have deemed me their lucky give-a-way winner!  Last month they decided to give away an original piece of mixed media artwork and I’m so pleased I will get to hang it on my wall.  Yeah for original and unique art!  I am a big fan of their lovely designs and products and so glad I will get to look at something so lovely every day.   Thanks ladies!

Even though we are trying to sell I am still changing the way things look around here.  I have been actually hanging things on the walls and continually changing the accessories on what few surface areas I have.  I recently acquired the oval painting from my Grandmother and thought the colors went well with what was going on in my bedroom.  And while in Chicago, I was able to snap a photo of the ferris wheel at navy pier which also involved the Red/Blue/Black theme.  With much anticipation I nailed the first hook into the wall and it did not turn to ash, so I added another frame to the mix.  Now that creative energy is spilling over to other parts of the house.  I’m hoping that Murphy’s Law applies and just when I get things hung in the right place, we’ll have to sell!  :)

Oh, the second photo is of some lovely Gladys I picked up for $.99 (no kidding) that I think make such a dramatic statement.  I love fresh flowers.

with so many miles logged in just a month, my luggage has taken a real beating.  i’ve used a traditional carry-on roller-wheels-suitcase, a standard internal frame backpack, super-cool mountainsmith cubes, and any number of duffel bags & purses.  and although i consider myself a seasoned and savvy traveler, i still haven’t found the perfect carry on (don’t even get me started on style…i’m just talking function)  well my type-a personality is flitter-fluttering over this new travel companion.  although the ZUCA may have the same amount of panache as vibram 5 fingers, having color-coded cubes to organize all my stuff, sporting a light weight frame AND providing a place to sit in over-crowded public places just may prove to be worth a fashion faux pas.

if i could spend all my discretionary money in one place, this would be it.  i love the aesthetics of all the products and i’m in love with their books.  good news for those of us on this side of the pond, they have an etsy shop.

If you’re a sucker for good packaging like me then this is a place you’ll love.  The Dieline: It’s all about package design.  It’s the best of all the stuff on the shelves that call my name.  I can finally look at them in one place (and keep my money in my pocket!)

Those words don’t seem to go together in my mind; however they seem to fit seamlessly in my friend’s new baby room.  She chose a lovely theme from CoCaLo Couture.  If I was getting ready to decorate for a new addition I would definitely head over there.

Here are pictures of the completed attic project I posted about a while back.  I’m glad to see that my little shower project turned out quite nicely.  And I really like the Joel Dewberry fabric for the room.

the new pete yorn album.  it dropped yesterday and made it’s way into my itunes immediately.  we LOVE pete.  it’s pretty insane.  if we had to choose just one artist to bring to a desert island it would be pete.  and seeing him in concert is great.  i feel like he is the essence of *cool*, real-james-dean-cool.

and i love that he is not associated with just one period in my life, but so many {major break-ups, a marriage, a move, job changes} and that he just feels like home when i listen to him.  it’s just home.  where ever that is.

I love tea.  I love all sorts; so when I found a tea I had not tried a few weekends ago I had to find some more.  What initially caught my eye was the lovely tea tin sitting on the counter.  And then I actually tried some.  I knew right away that the Ethos blend would be one of my favorites.  It is a “tranquil blend of chamomile, mint, and rooibos”.  Yum!  You can see more on their website here.
